Intensive periodic safety testing has shown that the sealing ring of the mixing bowl lid may not function properly in a few of the appliances. If you are operating such a Thermomix ® TM31 at higher speeds, for example while puréeing, and you open the lid right afterwards and/or very quickly the hot mixed food can squirt out of the bowl in some few cases. This could lead to scalding and/or burns.
As soon as the issue was detected, we identified the relevant production period (October 2012 – May 2014) and asked potentially affected customers to replace their sealing ring as a precautionary measure. Now evidence has shown that also few appliances produced after May 2014 might potentially be affected.
To make sure that Thermomix ® TM31 works safely, all appliances with the service number in the range between 124231XX – 143231XX have to be operated only with a green sealing ring. You can find the service number on the type plate on the bottom of the appliance.
If your service number is in this range, we will send you - free of charge - a new green sealing ring. You receive the green sealing ring automatically, which means there is no action required on your side. You do not need to contact your Advisor or Vorwerk about this.
After use at high speed (higher than speed 4), just turn the speed selector back to level 1.
Leave the speed selector in that position for three seconds.
Then turn the speed selector to Lid Open position and carefully open the lid.
By following the above mentioned instructions you should be safe when using your Thermomix ® TM31.
If your Thermomix ® is not affected, i.e. if you bought your Thermomix ® TM31 prior to October 2012, your mixing bowl lid should be working properly. In this case a replacement of the sealing ring is not necessary. However, please note that the sealing ring should be replaced regularly, at least every two years.

Our customer service automatically knows that this extended warranty is valid for these devices. Green sealing rings are expected to have been sent to all the customers in your country with a Thermomix ® TM31 manufactured between October 2012 and August 2014 (service numbers ranging from 124231XX to 143231XX) by the end of January 2016. Please understand that our customer service is unfortunately unable to give you precise details of when your sealing ring will be delivered.
This issue affects only a small number of appliances manufactured between calendar week 42 in 2012 and calendar week 32 in 2014.
You can check whether your appliance was produced in this period by looking at the service number on the type plate located on the bottom of your appliance. If your service number is in the range from 124231XX to 143231XX, please send us your address. As a precaution and of course free of charge you will receive a new sealing ring.
Please exchange the grey sealing ring with the new green one and throw the grey one into normal household garbage. If your Thermomix ® is not produced within the above mentioned time frame your lid should function correctly.
