The Thermomix ® was invented in the 1960s, and the success story of this kitchen appliance really began in France in 1970. Because thickened soups were a favourite there, the managing director of Vorwerk France at the time came up with the idea of designing a machine that could simultaneously blend and cook. The idea met with great enthusiasm at Vorwerk, and a short time later, in 1971, the original Thermomix ® VM 2000 was launched on the market – first in France, then later in Spain and Italy, too.

Since then, Vorwerk has continued to develop new models with better performance and new functions, the latest of which is the Thermomix ® TM5.

As a business division of Vorwerk & Co. KG, Thermomix ® has been growing steadily in recent years with sales in 2012 of €683.9 million.

Almost 27,000 advisors, the majority working part-time, sell the Thermomix ® in customers’ homes at demo parties or on recommendation. Thermomix ® started in Europe, and is an established favourite in several European countries where the different generations of the appliance have been available for many years. However, our global expansion means that we are growing in popularity in new markets and that you can find Thermomix ® all over the world, from China to Mexico and Australia to Taiwan.
